How to get to Herriko Ostatua Zubieta de Navarra

By foot or by bike
 

From Doneztebe:

  • Start in Doneztebe: Head south of the city to find the start of the trail (blue/water route).

  • Follow the Trail: Follow the well-marked trail towards Zubieta, alongside the Ezkurra River.

  • Destination: Continue on the trail until you reach Zubieta.

From Leitza:

  • Starting Point: Start your trip from the center of Leitza.

  • Route GR-121: Follow the GR-121 route and look for signs towards Zubieta.

  • Arrival: Continue following the directions until you reach Zubieta

By car

  • From Pamplona (50 km, approximately 1 hour):

    • Start by taking the PA-30 highway northwest.

    • Take exit 92 toward NA-1110/Etxarri.

    • Continue on NA-1110, then take NA-132A to Zubieta.

    • Follow the local signs to Herriko Ostatua.

  • From San Sebastián (65 km, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes):

    • Take the AP-1/E-70 highway from San Sebastián toward Pamplona.

    • Take exit 123 toward N-1/Irun.

    • Merge onto GI-632, then take the exit for NA-132.

    • Follow NA-132 and local roads to Zubieta.

  • From Bilbao (130 km, approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes):

    • Take the AP-8 highway from Bilbao toward San Sebastián.

    • Merge onto the A-15 toward Pamplona.

    • Take exit 139 toward Leitza/Zubieta.

    • Follow the signs to Zubieta and continue to Herriko Ostatua.

  • From Bordeaux (290 km, approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes):

    • Take the A63 highway from Bordeaux toward Bayonne.

    • Continue on the AP-8/E-70 highway into Spain, following signs for San Sebastián.

    • Merge onto the A-15 toward Pamplona.

    • Take exit 139 toward Leitza/Zubieta.

    • Follow the signs to Zubieta and continue to Herriko Ostatua.

Public transport

  • From Pamplona:

    • Take the ALSA bus service from Pamplona to Santesteban.

    • From Santesteban, take a taxi or local bus to Zubieta.

  • From San Sebastian:

    • Take the Renfe Cercanías train (line C1) to Irun.

    • There is a daily bus service from San Sebastián to Donestebe (Santesteban).

    • From Donestebe, you can take a taxi or a local bus to Zubieta.

  • From Bilbao:

    • Take a direct bus from Bilbao to San Sebastián (several providers, including ALSA).

    • From San Sebastián, take a bus to Tolosa, then a local bus or taxi to Zubieta.

  • From other European countries : The closest TGV train station is Hendaye. For example, you can take a high-speed TGV train from Paris Gare Montparnasse to Hendaye. The trip takes around 4-5 hours. Check the timetable and book your tickets in advance on the SNCF website or at the train station.

Nearest airports

  • Domestic Airport:

    • Pamplona Airport (PNA): Located approximately 50 km from Zubieta, it is the closest domestic airport. It has regular flights to and from Madrid and Barcelona. From the airport, you can rent a car or take a taxi to Zubieta (approximately 1 hour).

  • International Airports:

    • San Sebastián Airport (EAS): Located about 60 km from Zubieta, it offers international flights to some European destinations (in summer).

    • Bilbao Airport (BIO): About 130 km from Zubieta, Bilbao Airport is the main international airport in the region with numerous international connections. From the airport, you can rent a car or take a bus to San Sebastián (1 hour and 15 minutes) or Pamplona, and then follow local directions to Zubieta (approximately 3 hours in total).

    • Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport (BOD): Located about 290 km from Zubieta, this airport serves numerous international destinations. From Bordeaux, you can drive directly to Zubieta (approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes) or take public transport to San Sebastián and proceed as described (approximately 5 hours in total).
